Selected Schools

Are you a school eager to test your students’ mathematical skills against peers both nationally and globally? You’ve come to the right place!

At the International Maths Challenge, we celebrate the vital role schools play in nurturing the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. This is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for students to test their problem-solving skills and challenge their limits in a globally recognised event.

As a Selected School, you’ll enjoy special opportunities to enhance your students’ learning, encourage friendly competition, and help them showcase their talents in the world of Mathematics.

Free Access to the OSMC

Free Access to the OSMC

As a Selected School, all your students can participate in the OSMC absolutely free of charge. A fee applies only if you wish to purchase preparatory notes for each student. Financial challenges should never hold back young mathematicians from participating. If you encounter any difficulties, let us know, and we’ll make sure your students have all the support they need.

Detailed Score Reports

Every participant receives a personalised performance breakdown. Your school will also receive an aggregated analysis of how your students performed individually. This data-driven insight helps schools track progress, identify trends, and plan future strategies.

FAQs for Schools

What’s the exam schedule?
The Online Simulated Maths Challenge (OSMC) will take place over the weekend of June 14-15. Students can log in and take the exam at any time during this 48-hour period. For more details, visit the exam schedule page.

Note: We host two competitions: the Online Simulated Maths Challenge (OSMC) for students from Selected Schools and the 2-Round Open Challenge. The Open Challenge is primarily designed for students who are not part of a Selected School but wish to participate individually. Students from Selected Schools are eligible to participate in both the OSMC and the Open Challenge.
How can my students prepare for the exam?
OSMC features aptitude-based questions, so students can prepare using their school syllabus and other online resources. However, most participants use our Test Practice Papers (TPP)—a collection of questions from previous years with detailed explanatory solutions. Challenging questions also come with video walkthroughs by our expert teachers, making preparation even more effective. When registering your students, you can choose between the free option, which allows your students to participate in the exam, or the paid option, which provides all students with preparatory notes and practice tests. Detailed information will be shared with you once you complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form above.
What measures are in place to ensure fairness and exam integrity?
We use a combination of human proctors and AI technology to maintain the highest level of security and fairness. All participants are authenticated through their digital photographs, and their workspace is monitored in real-time during the test. This ensures a fair experience for all test takers. For more details, visit our FAQ page.
How will parents receive test day instructions?
Four days before the exam, we will send participants a detailed email with login information, test day instructions, and other necessary details. For a preview, you can check the instructions provided for the December 2024 exam here.
Is there a limit to how many students can participate from a Selected School?
No, there’s no limit on the number of participants from a Selected School. However, we recommend registering only students who are genuinely interested in math competitions. Encourage them to try our sample questions beforehand to gauge their interest and readiness.
What happens if a student misses the test?
Since the exam is available for 48 hours, we cannot offer a retake for missed tests. However, if a test is interrupted for valid reasons, parents can appeal on the following Monday. If the appeal is approved, the student will be given a chance to retake the test within 24 hours.
Are schools required to proctor the test?
No, schools are not required to proctor the test. We use a robust combination of human proctors and AI monitoring to ensure the exam's integrity. Plus, since the exam is held over the weekend, we don’t expect teachers to work during this time.
Can schools proctor the test if they wish to?
Yes, schools that prefer to conduct the exam on their premises can proctor the test. For these schools, we provide access to the test one day earlier (June 13), allowing them to supervise the process in person.
Can students with disabilities or special needs participate?
Absolutely. We offer accommodations for students with disabilities and for those for whom English is a second language. More information is available on our FAQ page.
Can we get a demo of the platform before the competition?
Of course! We’re happy to provide a demo of the test platform. Simply fill out the form on this page to request a demo session.
How is the syllabus aligned with local and international standards?
Our question papers are meticulously crafted by experienced teachers to challenge students' aptitude and problem-solving skills. These questions go beyond rote learning, focusing on logic, reasoning, and analytical thinking. Designed as puzzles or real-world scenarios, they encourage critical thinking and creativity. Every question is aligned to age-appropriate concepts, ensuring fairness and intellectual growth.
